About the project
An exploration of the new folkloric customs and traditions that have emerged nationally and in the Sheffield/Peak District area as an outcome of the COVID-19 lockdown. Whilst customs such as the Castleton Garland were cancelled, new rituals emerged such as VE Day and the weekly #ClapForCarers. Rainbow artwork decorated windows and NHS scarecrows were created in Stannington, Woodseats and Bamford. David and Andrew are founding members of the Centre for Contemporary Legend research group at Sheffield Hallam University.
