Video featuring original music and performance by Sheffield-based Ghanian musician, Kweku Sackey, front man of the Afro-fusion band KOG and the Zongo Brigade, and musician and producer, Tom Excell. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It draws on the work of cultural historian, Dr Lucy Brown, who has researched the shifting conversation about men and emotional expressiveness in the second half of the twentieth century. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Collaborating with founder of men\u2019s talking group Men Up North and TEDx speaker, Angga Kara, Kweku and Lucy sought to explore the subject of mental and emotional health in modern Britain through the lens of men and masculinity. Kweku produced an artistic interpretation of the historical research, drawing on the topics discussed at the men\u2019s group as well as his own personal experience of growing up in Ghana and moving to Britain as a young man. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Themes explored in the piece include cultural ideas about men expressing emotions (including saying \u2018I love you\u2019), fatherhood and men\u2019s mental health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
