What if young people were able to help shape the environment? Wouldn\u2019t that foster a sense of ownership and responsibility?<br><br>AR\u2019 City explores these questions in a hands-on way, using augmented reality (AR) technology to connect young people with issues in their communities and to empower them to come up with solutions.<br><br>This exhibition showcases some of the ideas that came out of this truly engaging project, including The Hungry Bin (it tells a joke every time it\u2019s used) and the Urban Bleep Test that turns streets into opportunities for spontaneous physical exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The AR&#8217; City project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"AR City | Festival of the Mind 2020\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BYhTK-Gqpow?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The event<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Technology has changed everything over the past few decades from the way we work to the way we interact with each other, but can it really change how we see our city?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AR\u2019 City thinks it can. AR\u2019 City is a project run by the social enterprise AALFY in partnership with the University of Sheffield and tech organisations in Sheffield with the aim of using smart technology to improve is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<p><em>What if our bins spoke to us?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To encourage people to use the bins more and prevent littering, young people from Sheffield suggested a bin that tells jokes in a Yorkshire accent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex
