{"id":778,"date":"2020-09-07T22:26:03","date_gmt":"2020-09-07T21:26:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/festivalofthemind.sheffield.ac.uk\/2020\/?post_type=exhibit1&#038;p=778"},"modified":"2021-07-09T17:23:56","modified_gmt":"2021-07-09T16:23:56","slug":"brain-orchard","status":"publish","type":"exhibit1","link":"https:\/\/festivalofthemind.sheffield.ac.uk\/2020\/futurecade\/brain-orchard\/","title":{"rendered":"Brain Orchard"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fresh from an 8 -week residency in Fremantle, Australia, artist Kate Sully returned to Sheffield with an exhibition exploring the latest research into Alzheimer\u2019s Disease (AD). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using digitally printed images of the brain, these vibrant, large-scale artworks provided a creative response to the work of scientists at the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SiTraN). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kate worked closely with Dr Simon Bell, Dr Daniel Blackburn and PhD student Manmohi Dake. Their research looks at AD from the celluar level to discover how brain cells interact, how brain waves are changed, and how a person\u2019s health can affect their brain structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong>Equilibrium<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div I wanted to express those ideas and suggest the brain is distorted and failing through my work by collaging together particular shapes and painting into them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 measure its function in patients with Alzheimer\u2019s Disease in both open and closed eye states. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wanted to suggest the idea of those states through my choice of imagery and that maybe finding another state of consciousness through creativity the brain could make new connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center
