Faiz Ahmad Faiz is one of South Asia\u2019s most celebrated poets. After forty years, his daughter Moneeza Hashmi responds to his letters to her in Conversations with My Father. The memoir\u2019s unique form allows her to share Faiz\u2019s intimate correspondence, while also telling her own story of a distinguished family and remarkable life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moneeza Hashmi\u2019s illustrated talk will include a short film showing. It will be followed by a Q&A and book signing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event will be hosted by Professor Siobhan Lambert-Hurley, Department of History. She will introduce Conversations with My Father by linking it to broader trends in women\u2019s autobiographical writing in Muslim South Asia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moneeza Hashmi <\/strong>is a broadcaster, television producer, media consultant and former General Manager of Pakistan Television. Along with Conversations with My Father<\/em>, she is the author of Who Am I <\/em>(2014), a collection of interviews with iconic Pakistani women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Siobhan Lambert-Hurley<\/strong> is a cultural historian of Muslim South Asia, writing on women\u2019s activism, autobiography, travel writing and, most recently, food.
