Sonic Imprints

Tue 24 September, 2:00pm 60 minutes

Harmony Works is working to restore and revitalise the currently unused Canada House, a heritage-rich building in the heart of the city centre.

The aim is to create a vibrant hub for diverse strands of musical life in the Sheffield region. Led by composer Professor Dorothy Ker, with contrabass clarinet performer Dr Sarah Watts and PhD researcher Lorenzo Prati, Sonic Imprints will create an imaginative bridge between the building’s past and future.

It examines the the potential for the building’s spaces to give life to sound and music – and for music to bring the old spaces to life – through a connected series of new compositions.

This event will share audiovisual documentation of the research process combined with a discussion at the dynamic confluence of music and architecture where the research team will be joined by architect and Harmony Works project Director Emily Pieters.
