Uplifting songs on the theme of hope, arranged, conducted and performed by the Chorus UK choir. The song choices are inspired by research being undertaken by staff and students in the Faculty of Engineering that aims to make the world a better place.
The programme includes rock classics We Built This City by Starship and ELO’s Mr Blue Sky alongside greats such as Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World. The choir is bolstered for the occasion by members of the Faculty.
Conceived by engineer and long-time choir member Professor Matt Carré, this unique concert has a simple message: though the world is facing immense challenges, human beings have the spirit and the ingenuity to overcome them.
Tonight’s performance has been presented in line with current COVID-19 guidelines, and managed by the University of Sheffield’s Public Engagement team as part of the Festival of the Mind. The event is held under the educational licence and follows strict guidelines with social distancing, sanitation procedures and safety measures. A COVID-19 risk assessment has been carried out and approved by Safety Services.
We wish to thank all our colleagues in Estates and Facilities Management for the measures put in place to ensure this event could happen safely tonight.
